We had dinner at Chute Rooster and really enjoyed both the food and the service. We came in after 9 pm but they still had full menu. In fact we we're lucky to catch the end of Frank Gregg's performance who is there some evenings. Our waitress was very cordial and offered good suggestions on food and drinks to match food. Even offered a beer sample for the special beer she recommended - and it was the right choice for the meal. Prime rib was very good. The price was very reasonable too. Many reviewers mentioned slow service - yes it took a little while to get seated and get started with the order but after that the service was quick and very friendly. I think you just need to relax a bit to enjoy the feel of the place and the food. Really enjoyed it and will try to come back if I get a chance.

Really fun place. Great prime dip and pork chops. Great affordable beer. If I lived closer I'd be here all the time. Thanks for the great work!

Everything in the restaurant is very mediocre, the food, the service, and the atmosphere... The restaurant doesn't have several things from the menu, but two positive thing are that it is opened late and has live music (however it won't fit everyone's music taste). Overall it is not a really good place.

Had a great dinner here tonight, the new owners are doing it. I made it past language issues with server, I'll be back for more balsamic pork chops. Good luck guy's great people great help. Go support them. They deserve it.

Really welcoming and absolutely delicious food. Some have said slightly overpriced however I disagree. Food was well worth the price. Worth a visit if in town!!

I had a great experience, and a great steak. It's family run, and they really took great care of us. The prices were reasonable. The ribeye was delicious. This is a very friendly place.I'm stunned to see so many low ratings. I imagine the new owners have improved things. They told us they took over in March 2019, so I would discount the older reviews.

Was closed for awhile. Heard it had opened back up and stopped in for some drinks with friends. Had live music playing, had a fun time with that. Service was good and friendly. Will go back for some food next time.

They are under new management as of April 2020, so it sounds like new reviews are especially warranted.Overall: recommend, a solid option for a dinner in Hill City.Servers: genuine, easy-to-talk-to.Beer: good local and mass market options on tap.Service: quick, especially on the appetizers.Ranch dressing: super thick (almost like a spread), very tasty.Brisket: very tasty, but probably could've been cooked under low heat a little longer to melt the last of the tough parts.Corn with green chilies: creamy and sweet with a little spicy kick, delicious.Funeral potatoes (aka "scalloped potatoes made with shredded potatoes"): gooey, starchy goodness with added pop from the black pepper.

Had a wonderful experience!! The food was amazing, awesome drink prices, great atmosphere, and the staff was very friendly. We even got to meet the owner who greeted and sat us. Hands down — they have the best prime rib in the Black Hills, at a great price too. I would highly recommend their appetizer chislick and their garden fresh salad with fresh mozzarella. Man, I can’t wait to go back again!!

We waited over 15 minutes to NOT be seated and were told 2x they will be with us and one waiter ignored us. A customer nearby customer stared at us while waited patiently. We ended up leaving. We did look over their menu and they are high priced. We went to a much better place down the street. See our review from there!

In town from Buffalo, New York and went to this restaurant for dinner. Saw they had later hours than most in town (huge plus) and was intrigued by the reviews I read. Like most reviews said, the food is great, the ambiance is nice and the live music gave it that added touch. We will be back before we head home!Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

BEST FOOD I HAD IN THE BLACK HILLS!!!!Got the peach tea cocktail featuring Tito's Vodka. Perfect ratio of booze to tea. First cocktail I had in the hills that didn't overdo it on sweetness, for my personal taste. Got the "pickles and peppers" appetizer. Fresh, never frozen ingredients. The batter is deliciously light and crispy. The home-made house ranch is great for dipping. Ate their pork chops with a balsamic reduction with the grilled vegetables. Everything was bursting with flavor and the chops were juicy, cooked to perfection. This will be a "must stop" from now on during my annual visit to the hills.

The place wasn't busy but no one acknowledged the few customers that walked in. People couldn't figure out if they were supposed to wait by the door or seat themselves. The staff was just standing around or walking by without greeting. I ordered to-go and it took too long to get what amounts to a grilled cheese and fries. The food was piping hot when we finally got it, but they wanted us to wait to get rung up and pay to the point the to-go food was getting cold. It's located very close to the hotel but I think tomorrow night we'll go somewhere else. The fries were crisp and smoky if you like that flavor.
